In March 2017 the United Nations has declared the horn of Africa and Yemen are in danger of experiencing a famine.
Missmanagement of ressources, overgrazing by big herds of livestock, overpopulation, insecurity and a long stretch of drought have intensified the needs the locale communities.
Now aid organisations are kicking in, try to help those in need. But many programs only aim on the short term.
The long term solutions are more complicated. Population control, livestock limits, battling climate change and the understanding that not all places in the world can sustain a never ending growth are vital in the battle against those calamities.
In the end its never just a single issue that lead to famine but a combination that causes the perfect storm.
This example shows again that famines are very rare totally natural, but very often man made.
